Through the "Kiran' Programme Kannur has achieved total primary education class IV equivalency.The "Kiran Programme" was launched by district literacy mission in association with the district panchayat, local bodies and voluntary organisations.

In 2008 Nilambur village set a new record in the the country. Everyone in Nilambur village has passed class IV.

Now Kannur sets a new record and has become the first District in India to achieves total primary education class IV equivalency.According to the media reports as many as 25,540 people passed the equivalency exam, a new achievement in the history of the state.

Can we expect a bullet train service or at least a high sped train service from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod? If everything goes well this is achievable.
According to the news media, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will provide consultancy services for the construction of a proposed high-speed rail corridor in Kerala between state capital Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod.
DMRC signed MoU (memorandum of understanding) for high-speed rly line in Kerala with the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC).
These high speed Trains will run at a speed of about 275-300 kilometres per hour and initially, eight stations have been planned.Thiruvananthapuram, Quilon, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Calicut, Kannur and Kasaragod will the stations

Indian Union Muslim League to launch a TV news channel in Malayalam.The channel would operate under the name Channel IBC (Independent Broadcasting Council). All major political parties in Kerala has won News Channels now. Like Kairaly, Jai Hind Television etc.

Well known and brilliant cinematographer Santosh Sivan to direct his next movie named 'Urumi'.‘Urumi’ is a period drama set in the 15th century and revolves around the life of the great the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama who set foot on the Kappad beach of Kozhikode in 1498.


'Urumi' movie is about a group of people wanting to assassinate Vasco da Gama.
'Who Killed Vasco Da Gama?' . This will be the subtitle of 'Urumi'
Prithviraj plays the leader of the gang that wants to kill Vasco da Gama and the female lead as Portuguese princess will be Genelia.
