According to the state Health Minister P K Sreemathi,three nursing colleges, one each at Malampuzha in Palakkad district, Uduma in Kasargod and Palluruthy in Ernakulam would be started in the first phase of the SIMET's programme. The Institute would be an autonomous institution under the control of the government.The New nursing colleges would function by utilizing the services of taluk and district hospitals nearby.
Admission to the new colleges would be started once the clearance of Indian Nursing Council was obtained.Paramedical institutions and more nursing colleges would be started in future under the Institute.
Professional courses in Ayurveda and Homeo branch of medicine also would be started.Hospital administration also would be started as part of the initiative.
