Kollam places -Kollam district Tourism-Ashtamudi Backwaters-Jatayupara-Oachira-Sasthamkotta Lake and Palaruvi waterfalls.

Kollam also known as Quilon is Located 71 km to the north of Thiruvanathapuram Kerala and is an old seaport town on the Arabian coast.
Kollam district is famous for its cashew trading and processing industry.Kollam district is home to the largest fresh water lake in Kerala the Sasthamcottah lake.About thirty percent of this district is covered by the Ashtamudi Lake, thereby making it a gateway to the Kerala Backwaters.

Thirumullavaram Beach
Thirumullavaram Beach is around 6 km north of Kollam town and is a beautiful beach and a picnic centre.

Palaruvi waterfalls.
Palaruvi is one of the well known water falls in Kerala and is situated around 66 kms. away from Kollam.

Aryankavu
Aryankavuis around 70 kms. away from Kollam town on the Shencotta road is the pilgrim centre in the mountains "Aryankavu" .

Mayyanad

Mayyanad is noted for its shrines and temples. Mayyanad is around 10 km south of Kollam town.

Thenmala is home to India's first planned eco-tourism project.This project is selected by World Tourism Organisation as one of the world's best eco-friendly projects

Sasthamkotta Lake

Santhamkotta is around 29 kms. from Kollam. With the vast fresh water lake spreading over the valleys of several hills, Sasthamkotta lake can truly be called the Queen of Lakes".

Oachira
Oachira is around 32 kms from Kollam on the national high way.
Oachira is a famous pilgrim center.Oachira Kali is the famous festival celeberated during the month of June.The presiding deity is the "Parabrahma", the absolute reality, the great source of all forms and phenomena which cannot be symbolised by an idol or housed in a temple. Hence there is no temple or idol for the presiding deity here.

Jatayupara
"JATAYUPAPRA" in Chadayamangalam on the M.C. road. The main attraction is a huge rock where, it is believed that Jatayu, the giant bird in Ramayana fell after failing in its attempt to stop Ravana from taking Sita away.

Ashtamudi Backwaters
Ashtamudi Lake is the gateway to the backwaters. Located in Kollam District.The Kollam Boat Club provides boat rides on the lake as well as houseboat cruises.
