The scheme will enable the public to communicate with police officers and share vital information with them round-the-clock.Under the programme, mobile phone connections will be provided to Station House Officers of 433 police stations, 190 Circle Inspectors, 50 Sub- Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), 17 DySPs of Special Branch, 17 DySPs of Crime Detachment, 17 DySPs of District Record Bureaux, four Range IGPs and two Zonal ADGPs and to the DGP.
The sim cards and connectivity for mobile phones will be provided by Vodafone Mobile Service Provider. The mobile phone numbers provided to these police officers will be widely publicized through the media and websites.
The programme is aimed at improving the Police-Public relationship.
