According to media reports the double Oscar award winning music maestro A.R. Rahman, will visit Thiruvananthapuram on April 14 to conduct a live music concert at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium in the city as part of an initiative by Global Kerala Initiative.

Kerala's 'Steve Irwin Crocodile Park' in Legal trouble.

Kerala government named the crocodile sanctuary near Neyyar Dam on on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram as ' Steve Irwin Crocodile Research and Rehabilitation Centre' as a tribute to the legendary wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin who is popularly known as the 'Crocodile hunter'.
It was opened in May 2007.Steve Irwin died in 2006 in a accident during a documentary shoot.The Kerala state had also claimed credit for building a memorial for the hero.Crocodile Park - Neyyar dam Pictures, Images and Photos
But Irwin's wife Terri says the park is violating intellectual property rights by using her husband's name.According to her Steve Irwin's name was an intellectual property, therefore, using it commercially without permission was an infringement of the rights vested with them.The notice warns of going to the court if the violations are not stopped.

A 100 crore mall from Oberon Group in association with Flora Group Hotels is opening in Cochin.The mall, has an area of 3.5 lakh sq ft with five floors is currently the biggest shopping mall in the state. The mall is planning to tie up with Cinemax for multiplex with four screens in May.
Lulu International a middle east based high profile hypermarket chain also opening a 1.5million square feet mall in Kochi.Once completed Lulu Hyper Mall will be India's biggest mall.

Even though in earlier days Holi was celebrated mainly by Hindu people, all people across cast and religion celebrates the spirit of Holi.Holy is celebrated across India and across caste ,religion and languages.It is a festival of reunion; where families get together and rejoice.
On Holi day people throw colored powder gulal or colored water on each other.This is considered as a mark of respect and love This is done in remembrance of the fun Lord Krishna used to have playing songs with the Gopikas at Gokulam.
On Holi day people wish each other 'Happy Holi'.
Holi derives its name from Holika (In some part of India the festival is still called Holika). And, is celebrated as a festival of victory of good over evil.
On the first day, burning of the demoness Holika, Hiranyakashipu's sister, in huge bonfires at night. Holika was a demoness in Hindu mythology who was burnt to death with help of God Brahma by Prahalad,the child-devotee of Lord Vishnu ( (Bhakt Prahlad)). The night before Holi pyres are burnt in North India in keeping with this tradition.
A box of Sweets and Gujjias go in the mood with this fun festival and are one of the most popular gifts of Holi.

NIT-Calicut signed MoU with Singapore polytechnic

The National Institute of Technology(Formerly Regional Engineering Colleges) Calicut Signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore’s Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) to collaborate to provide exposure to students and faculty.
The Media reports says that the NIT Kozhikode Director G.R.C. Reddy signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ngee Ann Polytechnic on February 20th in Singapore. Dr. Reddy and Angela Wee Li Kwang, Director, InfoComm Technology, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, signed the MoU.

NIT Calicut is a premier Deemed University in India for Engineering, technical education, applied sciences, and computer science.IT Calicut offers undergraduate programs in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Production Engineering & Management.
NIT Calicut offers M.Tech programs in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering , Electronics Engineering , Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering.
According to the media reports the first programme under the MoU framework would be to send a batch of 30 students with two lecturers from the School of InfoComm Technology to the NIT-C for six weeks from March 8 to April 17.
The NIT-Calicut Ranked #21 of 50 in Mint C-Fore Top Government Engineering College Rankings for 2008.

Early next morning people bath once more, worship Siva and return to there are Siva temples.The art form Kavadiyattom is of great significance in the celebration of the Sivarathri festival in Kerala.
The most famous place where Sivarathiri is celebrated in Kerala is Aluva."Aluva manalpuram" is famous for Shivratri celebration. The celebration of Sivarathri at the Siva temple at Aluva on the sand bank of River Periyar is attended with great devotion and tens of thousands of people gather there to worship.The holy Lingom rises out of the sand on the bank of the Periyar river.
Pilgrims offer Bali (sacrifice) to their ancestors in the morning succeeding the holy Shivratri night at Aluva Manapuram.

The Danny Boyle film 'Slumdog millionnaire' which has won 10 Oscar nominations.
Slumdog Millionaire, is based on India's diplomat-author Vikas Swarup's novel Q&A. has already bag numerous awards including the prestigious Golden Globe awards and BAFTA Awards.It has got 10 oscar nominations including A R Rahman ,Resul Pookkutty and Best director for Danny Boyle.Resul Pookkutty is the first ever Malayali nominated for the Annual Academy Awards (Oscar awards).Pookutty has been nominated along with Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke for sound mixing in Slumdog Millionaire.Only two Indian have won the prestigious Oscar awards till date, Bhanu Athaiya (for costume design in Gandhi) and Satyajit Ray, who was given an honorary Oscar for his contribution to films.

Kerala Catholic church is facing issues one by one.Earlier it was Sr.Abhaya murder case and 'adoption issue' of a 26 year old women.Now it is the turn of Dr Sister Jesme.
Dr Sister Jesme who released her book 'Amen - an autobiography of a nun' has strong allegations against the system and has a description of the torture and mental trauma suffered during her convent life.The book narrates the darker side of the church life even if it is true or not.
Dr Sister Jesme was the Principal of St Mary’s College, Thrissur, till August 2008 after that she quit the Congregation of Mother Carmelite (CMC).
Amen is explicit in its details of the sexual repression and harassment behind the Church walls.The book portrays the activities of priests forcing novices to have relations with them and the closet homosexuality within nuns etc.
The book says Jesme herself was forced into homosexual relationship by a fellow nun, and that her complaints to a senior nun were ignored.
Another incident describes in the book during her travel to Bangalore to do a refresher course in English by U.G.C.
Even if the allegations are true or aimed to tarnish the reputation of nuns and priests these issues needs to be addressed by the church as it tarnishes the belief of common man in the system.
It is true that people with different mindsets are there as nuns and priests,and it is impossible to monitor all these activities.
If the church again keeps ignoring these issues ,it might affect the reputation of nuns and priests in the society.

Mohanlal's Red Chillies..Spicy?

It is really spicy but bit lengthy and bit difficult to watch a movie for around 2 hours 35 minutes.
The movie is directed by Shaji Kailas and Red Chillies is Mohanlal's first released movie of 2009.The movie has all ingredients with quirky cuts, hard-hitting punch lines and sizzling effects and is really a visual entertainment .

The movie is produced by M. Ranjith under the banner of Rajaputhra Visual Arts and tells the story of OMR (Mohanlal), a Singapore based business magnet who runs an FM radio station and a gang of nine talented Radio Jockeys who get entangled in a multiple murder, drunk driving, disobeying police officers, dancing and singing at a posh bar and drug abuse.
Biju Menon and Siddique are handling the roles of investigating officers and Thilakan as Biju Menon's father.

The much awaited Dileep,Nayantara movie was earlier planned for Vishu release.Malluwood media reports that Bodyguard release has been postponed due to the shooting being incomplete.

India's first Oceanarium to come up in Kochi

An Oceanarium is a simulated ocean and contains all the living organisms found in the water body including large species like whales and sharks.
India's first oceanarium is coming up in Kochi.Media reports that Kerala government as part of promoting 'fisheries tourism', has initiated a proposal to set up a rs 350 crore 'Oceanarium' in Cochin.
The project is proposed as a public-private partnership model, spread over 50 acres at Puthuvypeen in Ernakulam.
The project is expected to be completed by 2010.
According to media reports ten acres out of the 50 acres identified has been allotted to Kochi-based Centre for Marine Living Resources and Ecology of the Ministry of Earth Sciences to shift its research activities to that area.
Media reports that the important area of the oceanarium complex will be its main tank, which house the curved acrylic tunnel through which marine life could be viewed from close range. The main tank is of heavy 'RCC construction' to hold around 12,000 cubic M of seawater.
This will be a wonderful attraction.Definitely it will draw huge attention.

Charulathayude Baaki | Vineeth and Padmapriya

After the soon to be released Malayalam film Banaras, Vineeth is again coming in lead role in a Malayalam film named 'Charulathayude Baaki'.Vineeth who is also a well known classical dancer is teaming up with actress Padmapriya.
The movie to be directed by debutante Sangeetha Padmanabhan. Others in the cast are Manian Pillai Raju, Dinesh panikkar, Vanitha, Sreelatha and Vasantha Kokilam.
In Banaras which is almost entirely shot at Banaras,Vineeth acted as classical dancer and student.Kavya madhavan also acted in that movie and for the first time she is doing the role of a classical dancer.Kavya Madhavan who recently got married to Nishal chandra left the mvie industry at least for the time being.
