To assist the victims of gender-based violence 'Bhoomia Counselling Centre' being established at the General Hospital Thiruvananthapuram.
This is a very good initiative. This will really help people who are victims of gender violence because of various reasons reasons.The 'Bhoomika Counselling Centre,' would have a woman counselor who would coordinate the activities of local bodies, legal experts, police and social welfare organizations to provide legal assistance to the victims.
The Bhoomia Counselling Centre will offer counselling services, medical and legal assistance for women facing gender issues or domestic violence.
According to media the center would be set up under a state-wide project on 'Medical care for victims of gender-based violence/social abuses' initiated by the state government in association with the National Rural Health Mission.
A total of 358 doctors, 1,000 staff nurses and 3,100 field staff had been trained for implementing the first phase of the project and it is expected that each district will get seperate Bhoomika Counselling Centres.
This is a good initiative and let us hope that many will get benefited from this.
