The reasons are countless. The Malayalam film industry is going through a tough weather. It became a non profitable business.Only few very few movies which released last year made profits. The production costs of movies sky rocketed without even considering that the Malayalam movies are targeted at a small community called "Mallus".
We lost some great actors and personalities in recent times. Muarli,N F Varghese, Ratheesh,Sreenadh,Rajan P Dev,Lohithadas and many others. The gap they introduced in Malayalam film industry is difficult to fill.

The allegations are that super stars are charging hefty amounts for each movie. But are they giving a guaranteed output? No. that is a fact. Then comes television.Numerous channels and reality shows
.Families are glued to television channels.Going to to movie theater (Cinema) and watching a movie became a burden.
So why to waste time? You will get the Original CD or DVD of the movie in a couple of weeks!
Malayalam movie industry is slowly losing its glitter. The quality of the movies transformed into hero centric comedies.Looks like all stars want to do super human characters.
They have fans association. Till few years back we used to laugh at other film industries for having fans association and the kind of acts they used to do.
Now we have fans associations for each stars ,and they are ready to go to any extend to promote their stars!!
Is this Kerala???
Who will save Malayalam movie industry?

I don't know who will save Malayalam movie industry, but I know who can support Malayalam movie artists. Tamil cinema. Malayalam artists who cannot find opportunities in Kerala are flocking to Chennai. Every leading female artists, singers in Tamil cinema are predominantly from Kerala.
