So the story of Asianet Idea Star Singer 2007 is over and Najim Arshad wins the crown!.Now it is the turn of another 85 contestants to horn their skills and grab the 1 crore worth villa!.One good thing is that Ranjini Haridas will not be the anchor,and she is replaced with Ramya raveendran and at least she is speaking good Malayalam.
Let us hope there is no more 'Manglish' from the anchor.
The judging panel also interesting ,but omission of music director Sarath is a surprise.But the decision to keep playback singer M. G.Sreekumar is a good decision.
Good..Let us wait and watch the next SMS and Music 'mamangam'!!!

I hope with all my heart that it will be Ranjini Haridas who would be anchoring from now on in Asianet Idea Star singer 2008. Even though she speaks 'manglish' she is the BEST! Ramya Raveendran and Devi suck as anchors!! Devi is horrible than Ranjini if people had wanted pure Malayalam! Ramya is good at Malayalam but she has no good interaction with the audience or the participants and makes the show real bore!
As for the judges, they almost give the same comments to all the participants that they sing marvelously. That we can judge form home but they are there for pointing out the technical mistakes and correct them. I guess M.G. Sreekumar and Sarath did their jobs best.
Yes Ramya, Even I share the same feeling..Now the Idea star singer is a 'dead' game!
What is special in Renjini's language than of the jury. All of them speaks the same language, Manglish or something else. Renjini specialised only in indecent clothing and vulgar posing.

To the Judges & Audiences
I have a humble request please dont discourage the peoples who sing well by eliminating them in the elimination round.
The last elimination round we (a lot op peoples found that Vivek was selected instead of aarthy)
By this we can find out that there is clear recomendation from the judges side, in selecting him in the elemination round.
We and many family friends have now decided not to see the prograamme due to the false steps you are taking.
Thia is verry verry bad from the idea star singer side.
No longer will we see the programme. we lost our confidence in the judges and sms peoples are sending.

I got a doubt whether u people are cheating we ordinary peopole who watch Idea Star Singer.
I am talking about Vivek Not once twice he stopped while singing then aslo he was elected to the next round only on the basis of SMS(we are not sure),What wrong the other singers who were elimnated had done at least they completed their singing.
Even when Vivek did perfomance round Ranjini was appreacting him as no other participants have performed.
I think Ranjini was not looking into Arya's performance,if she had watched her performance she would not hve praised Vivek & his family so much.
I got a request to ISS that please don't take such foolish steps again.

Vivek is a very good singer. He have good knowledge of music, He couldnt sing in the 9th stage, than can happen to anybody. we are happy ISS gave him another chance.

Renjini not only speaks Manglish but also is changing this reality show to a partiality show. She is pitching for some candidates.It was visible from her open appeal for sms for Vivek. Judges too are partial. Arya sings well and she is purposly given low marks to benefit Gayathri.
Can we ever expect an anchor like Akhila who anchors Much Star Singer, She does an excellent job and her interaction with judges and contestants is great. Renjini is too partial and she opens her mouth when no comment is needed from her. Is she well connected with someone higher up in Asianet that she could get away with anything she wants? Well, the channel will soon realise the negative effect she is bringing in.
listen guys.. gayathri can be a playback singer.. arya cannot become one, coz her voice is like a bit closed kind. Another thing, Ranjini never supported vivek intentionally. She was forced to do so, as the whole asianet team was supporting him.. Seems like it is a reality fake show. But I really like the way Ranjini handle english. Trust me, she is just good n better in her english diction than anyone else in asianet or any other malayalam channels. vivek is talented. His sound is bit nasal, shky and hypervibrating. Rahul is okay in that sense. Didi is really an unwanted jury in the show. Doen't really know how to judge south indian songs and dunno even what to say. Simply repeating the marks always given by venugopal or sarat. She is almost like a don care condition bit in the show. Venugopal is not a good judge as his smile itself is fake. Also rather than judging a contestant he always purposely hum some songs to show off every time he gives out a comment. Tired of him and his fraud face. Anyway love you SARAT sir....
Hi guy, we are talking about a Malayalam reality show. Usha Uthup is indeed an excess baggage in the show. How dare she asked Arya if she knew the meaning of the gazal she sang and her comment that it is difficult to sing without knowing the meaning. She never asked this to any other contestant and how much she knows the languages in which she sings. She is a big frog in the well. Hope she will not be there next year to occupy that fancy seat. It will definitely nice to see a new anchor also.
Yes, I totally agree. Arya has been a consistent contestant and the judges ganged up against her. Her total marks fall below that of Imran's. Perhaps this is how reality shows become partiality shows. Never expected such mean attitude from a channel like Asianet.

I also think that arya is one of the best contestants and she sings much better than many other who recieves better marks. Usha uthup is particularly against her. I wonder how imran reached the 11th stage. Anybody will have such doubts if they watch his performance and his attitude. It would be better if they chose those celebrity guests who have knowledg or atleast have some interest in music.
Is Renjini Haridas an anchor or a judge. It seems she is trying to be everything. It is so disgusting when she says "and" which she uses in every sentance. What a joker we have in Idea Star Singer!

Hi! I agree with most of the above comments.Beginning with Renjini ,all the 3 permanant judges trying to attack Arya after she got prize in the youth festival.This is really shameful.Don't think Gayathri is the best[only money wise].She is nothing in front of Sonia & Arya.

I think the three judges and Renjini have already selected the winners by openly showing favouritism. I agree Vivek is a good singer. So also is Prasobh. Sonia is the best among female singers. Arya deserves better treatment from the judges. By the way, what a difference between Akhila, the anchor of Munch Star Singer and the so called ISS anchor Renjini. When the judges comment, Akhila keeps quiet and this crazy woman,Renjini,behaves as if the comments were for her performance. Ouseppachan,Unnikrishnan and M.G,Sreekumar should have continued as judges.
I think malayalam female playback singers are busy. That's why we have to depend on jobless people like DEEDI for judging ISS. Same in the case with Venu& sarath.

HOWEVER,AS THE PROGRAMME BECAME SUCH A LONG AFFAIR, IT LOOKS LIKE THE JUDGES HAVE BECOME VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AS THEY IGNORE EVERY RULE IN THE GAME TO SUPPORT, SHOWER WITH PRISES AND EVEN BECOME VERY PERSONAL WITH A PARTICULAR PARTICIPANT. IT HAS BECOME VERY EVIDENT EVEN FOR PEOPLE WITHOUT ANY MUSIC BACKGROUND. WE FEEL THIS ATTITUDE IS NOT GOOD EITHER FOR THE PARTICIPANT OR FOR THE JUDGES IN THE LONG RUN UNLESS THEY ARE DOING THIS FOR A CAUSE.

I am so happy to see that more people are coming out against the inappropriate actions of the judging panel of ISS. They (I mean all the three) think that they can get away with anything. Do they think,especially Sarath, that all the viewers of ISS are stupid to tolearate poor judgment and especially the silly comments of Sarath. Asianet should seriously consider some changes in case they want to continue ISS. In today's economy, they will have a tough time to get sponsors and sms messages which are costly to individuals.
I wish good luck to Somu, Jins and Arya. Keep up your good work.
Now, there is interest in watching, all the contestants are in full spirit, and doing their best. Do your best and God will do the rest.
While giving his marks to Gayathri, Ganesh Kumar made a rather silly and partial comment. He wanted her to invite for the palukachal of the winning flat. The same guy told the next contestant Sonia that he wished her opportunities to sing in many stages. I think, he was so stupid to make such silly comments. Sonia has so far proved that she indeed is best among the three.
Mr.Ganesh Kumar, please do not wish such a great prize to Gayathri alone. Please encourage and wish good luck to all the participants. Let them not lose their spirit, rather, let them try their best. One advice, please talk less.
I think Ranjini should watch the Munch Star Singer junior episodes. Akhila is much younger but so matured in anchoring the show with dignity and high degree of professionalism. When Sreekuttan, Sujatha and the celebrity guest give suggestions and advice to the contestants,Akhila remains quiet thus respecting the judges, while Ranjini does not know how to conduct herself in such occasions. Is the producer of ISS Baiju does not want to improve the show or is he helpless?

I think Ranjini is partial to Vivek and Gayathri,so I think even Soniya[female] and Rahul,Prasobh[male] deserve the prize they will give it to them.The judjes are also favouring them.

Both male and female singer will get a one crore villa. Then what was the rush in keeping away Arya from the competition? Judges were so partial in the 12th stage and they ganged up against Arya. To keep the competition going, they should not have eliminated Arya. SMS votes are kept secretly by the channel and they can manipulate it the way they want. ISS 2008 has become a programme not worth the name. It seems Asianet has already decided the winners and the viewers are being fooled. Why are the main sponsors go along with this injustice? Don't they want a healthy competition or adjustment behind the scene. It is a pity any way.
It is high time to remove the judges from ISS. They are partial to some contestants. Gayathri's voice is not at all good. Arya was an excellent singer. But why they eliminated her? Somu is not having any knowledge in music. What is the use of sending him to next round?
Sarath and Didi were trying to find fault with Arya. God will punish them for this.Venu is not judging properly.. He is trying to show his talent in singing always. unnecessarily he is humming the songs. Sarath will not be happy always. Didi is like puppet.

She should act like other dignified anchors in other channel programmes. Send that lady called Didi to Calcutta. She like certain contestants who dance according to her tune. Her emotional acting is disgusting. If she is angry with somebody she make a mess to that persons life. If she like politics why she is not going and contesting elections instead of eating somebody's head.
If Sarath control his tongue it will be well and good. Tell him not give lecture without knowing anything and tell him he is sitting there to judge the contestants not the public.

I sincerely hope Asianet management look into the comments on this site. If they want a susceeful ISS, there should be a thorough change of judges and the anchor. Bring in some pleasing people who can judge without hurting or humiliating and an anchor who is well versed and well mannered.

When the contestants have to be well versed in Carnatic music, the judges also should have the same qualification. Why then Usha is kept there when she has no background of Carnatic music. She was a pop star in the seventies and there are so many others who are better qualified and in a position to converse in good Malayalam. After Arya, I think the judges are after Prasobh. He is continuously given low marks to promote Rahul. Prasobh has a melodious flowing voice where as Rahul sings like a bhagavathar all the time.
Judges please do justice to Prasob. He's a good singer and the best.
we in kuwait are very angry for eliminating arya. she is a good singer and very simple in her attitude. not like gayatri who has hopless voice esp after her secret marriage. sonya is very good. we think gayatri should have been eliminated instead of arya. rahul and prasobh are good. vivek should have been thrown out when he stopped singing.what competition is this. india please dp study various competitions throughout the world and then produce such a competition. Agree that Somadas (Somu) cannot sing Carnatic music. But to give him only 3 marks by the celebrity guest was a great insult to him and also the music. At least he should have given more marks for such a brave attempt (otherwise why you selected him in the first place if he does not know carnatic music!!)
Other thing is when Ranjini has become another judge!!!I thought she is only anchoring the show. Her comments on that day were utterly disappointing and out of place. She was again and again telling that the viewers should judge the contestants only on their merits (and she repeated this many times). I think she was indirectly telling not to vote for Somu!!!Who the hell she thinks she is?? Another MSS Or KJY?? Viewers are better knowledgeable that her. Just ask her to stick to her job, i.e., anochoring and leave the rest to judges/pulic. Or just throw her out of the show with her Manglish.

We were all awestruck with what Ranjini said about somadas. Come on there are lot many singers in the industry with no knowledge of carnatic and carnatic is not a mandate in being a play-back singer.I dont think Rejini has to say ultimately music should. If music should win and so should somadas. We love ISS. But of late the attitude of the judges has been defeating.
We already gave up this show. That was very clear the fraudulent every where in the entire show.
I was shocked by the foolish comment from the anchor when I accidentally watched a part of the show. I just don't remember the celebrity guest, I think that was Mr Ganesh Kumar. And there was two Ranjini's on the stage. Ganesh kumar asked them whether they're twins?
Our beloved anchor replied that they need to ask their mothers to answer that question.

According to me ISS 2008 singers are not at all talented compared what we see in other channels this is nothing. I dont think any boy or girl in the final six is worth 1 crore rupees or flat whatever may be. They neither have any personality nor talent. God alone knows what the judges decide and support singers. Vivek is a flop and judges are supporting so much as if he is doing well. As regards to girls the judges have done a blunder in selecting only two tillthe end. there is no competion at all in girls. Why cant the judges think of more girls just for competion sake. Very poor. It is a shame to say that this a singers competion where no one is efficient and eligile. All interest has gone. Flop Flop Flop.

No singer is worth 1 crore in ISS 2008 when compared to other music ompetions. It is a shame on judges also they dont even foresee how the competition will go. Eg: selection of two girls only for the final competion, both are just okay not at all good. Why cant the judges decide properly.
Ranjini is too much the way she is talking and also Sharath who alsways comments dirtly jokes. I do not know how Venugopal is keeping quite for all the comments he is throwing on him.partiality is too high in boys selectin. Vivek is not worth to be in finals at all. Instead Somu is better.

I too felt that the judges are doing partiality.In the last stage somu got 380 marks and gayathri got 383 and ranjini herself is accepting that somu got sms equivalent to 50 marks. Then how come somu is not in the final and gayathri is IN? Somu may not have knowledge in "carnatic music" that somebody has prepared and established. But he has the pure knowledge and BASE that the great musician “GOD” has given. I wish him all the success in his life as well as in his career.
Sharath should be in the judging pannel and he is the one makes the show unique, I know mallus very well, they would like to complaint on each and evrything happens around them. The perfect example is this forum;nobody in the world would act crazy as mallus. This is why Kerala has strikes every 10 days..common mallus wake up, enjoy the music and dont get too much involve the politics.. If you dont like the show just change the show..you can not going to die..chill out and do something productive instead of bitching about anything and evrything

All the members of the presentjudging panels should be removed along with Renjini Hardias. We are all tired of seeing these repeated faces and non-standard jokes. Programme is biased and hence, need to do something to have a futute for the coming programme in 2009

It is better to put either shakila, reshma, sindhu, or mariya than Ranjini. I do not know the reason why the public backs her up. She is arrogant and irritating. The above mentioned ladies can perform better than her.
Finally the most deserving have won. Vivek is such a good singer; that is why we could forgive the ways he entered different stages. Probably the judges also felt that. But I think the judges should judge today's song not on the basis of the previous one. All have come to sing their best. So forgetting lines, cold and fever or vocal nodules should not be a consideration for sympathy marks at all.And the judges suggesting ENT surgeons, Didi crying 'what happened to you ma'and Ranjini begging sms for Vivek - all are in bad taste of judging. That is why so many are unhappy about the way the programme is conducted. Hope they rectify these faults next time.

I totally agree with your comments on Ranjini 'anonymous'. Ranjini should be given a break- she not only made a fool of herself but all those she invited on the stage during the grand finale; to start with Vani who was supposed to be her co-host. Ranjini's attitude was clear when she was trying to downplay Vani by overpowering Vani. The fear of competition was evident in her talks and actions. I understand the sense of insecurity she may have for her job as an anchor but I believe by all means Asianet should give chance to other upcoming folks who could anchor the show. Besides the way she was in a hurry to finish the show during the "prime time" pulling the microphone from Jins, other contestents and on occassions from the judges (didnt work with Jagathee I guess..). Ranjini was trying it to make it a "Ranjini(I want to be a STAR) show" and not ISS..
As a fan of ISS I would like to see Ranjini replaced.. she seems to be getting on eveybodys verves now. specially for what she did at the grand finale.. she was acting desperate for attention.. running all over the stage as if she was everything, no respect to the real stars (contestants & other movie stars who were invited on the stage for adding value to the show) I would be surprised if she gets away with this wired act for attention

We were regular watchers of iss 2008, but after the grand finale we are a little bit confused abt the show as the result from the 1st runner up and the order of announcement of the result were not up to the mark. There was no suspense when Ms.Renjini announced iss 2008 male & female. After announcing the 6th and 5th positions you could have announced the winners and after that only you could have announced the 1st and 2nd runner up.Jins got 70 marks and above 80000 votes and prasobh got 68 marks and about 50000 votes we think, we don't have any doubts on prasobh's talent, but it was very evident that jins was in the 5th position and prasobh in the 6th according to the marks and sms, we don't know whether that was a mistake or it was done deliberately. Also Gayathri got 73 marks, but the least sms and we think the number of sms for Jins was enough to cover that 3 marks, so we do not know whom should we blame for all these - the judges or the officials of asianet.
As per our point of view Vivek and Sonia - yes the best singers and Rahul also okay, but Jins could have been the 2nd runner up as on the 13th elimination stage Ms.Renjini stated that 50000 sms is enough to cover 50 marks. IF you have given the prizes as per the marks, then why should all the viewers send the sms
So, please don't do any such stoopid things in future, because we all are watching iss only because of our love towards music and good singers not because of you people in asianet

Can't believe that Prasobh got only consolation prize.People in B'bay were really surprised and stunned.But for prasobh people were not watching idea star singer on tv.He was the only singer who could sing all the songs without any hickups.The judges and anchors were biased and had already planned the winners before the finals.it is really sad that music is deteriorating drastically.in our minds prasobh is the final winner.Vivek sang well but he shuld have lost in the 11th and kacheri round were he couldn't remember anything.really surprised he won the title.
I was also dissappointed with the final result.If they r giving the prize according to the marks what the use of sms. If asianet want to make pgm as the opinion of people please don't consider the marks..No need of judges in Grad finale round. anyway the contestents reach till finale through the judgement right so leave last decision for the people. Otherwise remove sms thing....The thing was then we can select the best singers without partialitty.

Hello,I do agree that vivek sang well in the finals.but do you remember he got 40 marks given by the judges in one of the episodes?do you remember he went blank for some time in one of the kacheri rounds?how did he enter the final with all those negative points.remember,this is a high level competition with crores of rupees worth prizes.the competition should not be judged on the emotional level or through smss'.just bcos the contestant is poor or he has a hogh level connections people should not vote!!
now ,people who dont know anything about music may also vote through sms.a person who has 4 or 5 mobiles can also vote to the same contestant.if a music competition has to be judged only the people who are judges and people from the music field and who drink,eat and sleep with music should vote and not through sms
you may get more money for organising this programme through smss'.but soon you will feel the charm of music is gone bcos none of the talented singers are taking part in the competition.even the audience and viewrs who watch on tv will also come down drastically.
To us in B'bay,this years idea star singer 2008 is only prasobh where he did extremely well throughout.
vivek ofcourse has a great voice,but for winning a competition at a high level like this is not good enough!!
there is a proverb in malayalam "Asooyakkum kusubinum marunnilla" thats alll.

With lots of mistake and in between stop singing finally vivek was selected for the flat which because of his SMS. Rahul was the best he should have got the 1st place. So please don't see the SMS for the final round and give prize for the crap singer like VIVEK. Once the person makes mistakes in his any round the mark should not been given properly. Atleast this time kindly judge properly. A bad singer can come up only because of SMS. be practical and genuine with the person who sings well.
in my opinion prasobh did not got what he deserves. he would have won the first place or atleast second place. i don't agree with the decision of the judges. anyway, when we check from the beginning to end of iss08 prasobh is the top scorer.he has lost many votes because the people typed as prashobh instead of prasobh. but he is the real star singer and he surely has a shining future.
